What are your opening hours and where are you located?
Stokesley Community Library is located in the heart of Stokesley, North Yorkshire. Our opening hours are managed by our wonderful team of volunteers, so times may vary — please check our website or contact us directly for the most up-to-date schedule.
We’d always recommend checking our website before visiting, especially on bank holidays or during local events, as hours may occasionally differ.
Does the library have parking?
There is limited car parking that the library shares with the Broadacres Housing facilities, but parking for the library is not guaranteed. The car park has 2 spaces for disabled access. However, they are well-used.
We urge you not to park in the surrounding streets close to the library as these are residential areas and have double yellow lines in some areas.
The High Street a short walk away has a free 2-hour disc parking option, discs can be collected from many High Street shops, the Town Hall and the library. Or there is a Pay and Display car park close to the High Street run by North Yorkshire Council.
Do I need a library card to use Stokesley Community Library?
Because Stokesley Community Library operates as part of the North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) Library Service, you will need a standard NYCC library card to borrow books and access library services.
If you don’t already have one, our volunteers will be happy to help you register when you visit. It’s free, quick, and opens up access to the wider NYCC library network as well as online resources and e-books.
Is Stokesley Community Library free to use?
Yes — visiting and borrowing books is completely free. As a community library, we believe everyone should have access to books and information regardless of their circumstances.
Some services, such as printing or specialist events, may carry a small charge to cover costs, but our core library service will always be free to use.
Does Stokesley Community Library offer any accessibility support?
Yes, the library is all on one level and provides easy access for wheelchairs, a hearing loop is available, and our volunteers are on hand to aid any individuals who require specific support. We have access to a disabled toilet and are listed a designated warm hub facility.
Does the Stokesley Community Library have Wi-Fi and public computers?
Yes, we do, and these can be accessed by all of our library members.
Stokesley Library has 7 Computers that members can use. The first hour is free. Computers can be booked in advance if a long session is planned.

Does the Stokesley Community Library have the option to print, copy, or scan documents?
Yes, we do, details of costs for these services are detailed in our business section on our website, or please pop in and speak to our volunteers.
Do you have study rooms or meeting spaces?
Yes, we do, please enquire with our Volunteers or view online, options, and rates of hire.

How can I volunteer at Stokesley Community Library?
We’d love to hear from you! Stokesley Community Library is entirely run by volunteers, and we’re always grateful for new members of the team. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or more, there’s a role to suit you — from helping on the library floor and shelving books to supporting events and admin.

How can I support Stokesley Community Library?
There are several ways you can support us, and every bit of help makes a difference:
- One-off donations — we gratefully accept one-off financial donations at any time.
- Donate books — we welcome donations of good-quality, recent books. Please check with us before bringing a large quantity, as we have limited storage space.
- Volunteer your time — if you have a few hours to spare, we’d love to have you on the team.
- Spread the word — simply telling friends, family, and neighbours about the library and encouraging them to visit is one of the most valuable things you can do.
For financial donations, there is a donations bucket on the library desk for small donations.
